WaterDecoder may earn commissions or referral fees through some links on the site, and it accepts donations. This page explains which arrangements are active, who pays us and how we keep commercial arrangements separate from how we evaluate products.

Many product pages, rankings, comparisons and Finder results have Check price buttons that link to retailers. Some of these are affiliate links: they tell the retailer that you came from WaterDecoder, and if you then make a qualifying purchase, the retailer may pay us a commission. The retailer sets the price you pay, and the link does not add anything to it.

On product pages, rankings, comparisons and Finder results, a note next to each Check price button says that the link may earn us a commission. On treatment plans and your shortlist, one note on the page covers its Check price buttons.

Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Our Amazon buttons do not show a price, so check Amazon for the current price and availability.

• Water test kits. Some pages link to home water-testing laboratories. If you order a test through one of these links, we may earn a commission. These links are labeled "Affiliate link" or "Sponsored".
• Installer quotes. Some pages link to services that put you in touch with local installers so you can compare quotes. If you request quotes through one of these links, we may earn a referral fee, and installers may contact you.
• Manufacturer links. Some product pages link to the manufacturer's own site. Where we have an agreement with the manufacturer, we may earn a referral fee.
• Dealer matching. If you ask us to find a local dealer, we match you with one dealer by hand. The dealer may pay us a referral fee.
• Donations. You can choose to support WaterDecoder with a donation. Donating does not change anything you see on the site.

Each test-kit, installer, manufacturer and dealer link has its own short note next to it saying that it may earn us money.

• Commercial arrangements do not affect the Decode Score. Scores assess the product evidence against the criteria that apply to each function we evaluate, as our methodology explains.
• Prices and buy buttons are shown separately from the score, so you can always tell which is which.
• Where a list of retailers shows prices, the lowest price comes first. Buttons without a price (including Amazon) come after them.
• We do not sell placements. No business pays to appear in our rankings, results or recommendations.
• Where we hold a link to a certification record, we provide it so you can check who issued it and what it covers.

The budget you enter can affect which products our Finder tool recommends. Our methodology explains how products become eligible, how recommendations are chosen and how we make editorial decisions.
