Water Filter Pitchers

A filter pitcher is the lowest-cost, no-install way to improve taste and reduce common contaminants. You fill it at the tap and it filters as you pour, with frequent cartridge changes as the trade.

Tap water poured into the reservoir drains through a cartridge into the jug below. What a pitcher reduces is a claim its exact cartridge has to hold; being a pitcher establishes nothing on its own.

How to choose a filter pitcher

The easiest place to start

A pitcher needs no installation and almost no commitment: fill it at the tap, keep it in the fridge, and pour. That low barrier makes it the natural first filter for renters, dorms and anyone testing whether filtration changes their water for the better.

Look past “filtered” to the certification

Basic pitchers improve taste and chlorine; the stronger ones carry NSF/ANSI 53 claims for lead and other health contaminants. The difference shows up on the certification, not the marketing, which is why each product here shows the basis of every claim.

Count the cost per gallon

Pitcher cartridges are inexpensive to buy but short-lived, so the figure that matters is cost per gallon across a year. If your household drinks a lot of water, a faucet mount or under-sink filter with longer-life cartridges can end up cheaper.

Also decidesCertified reduction, not just tasteStronger pitchers go beyond chlorine and are certified to reduce lead and other health contaminants.
